Thomas Academy was hopping on Friday March 28 as The Pink Slips Band spent the day teaching Thomas Academy's middle school and high school students about the history of Carolina Beach music including how the band members write their lyrics and songs and then match the horns, drums, keyboard and guitars to the lyrics. Students heard from Greg Elkins, Townsend Link, Howard Faircloth and Bernie Hall about the history of shag and beach music. A few brave teachers tried shag dancing, too! Then The Pink Slips performed a concert of their music and beach music hits for the entire Thomas Academy and Boys and Girls Homes campus.
