The next time you visit Thomas Academy's library, look to your right, and in the garden, you'll see a new addition lounging in the sunshine outside of the library. This bronze reading girl statue was donated by Peggy and Gary Bradt as they were moving out of their Compass Point home in Leland. They originally bought the reading girl at a sculpture shop in Highlands, NC, falling in love with her details— her braided hair, her carefree toes and the book she was reading - "Aladdin."
When they attended Kiwanis Day at BGHNC in November 2024, Peggy was “struck by what a lovely, serene campus you have and thought, well, she belongs there.” So when they decided to move back to Greensboro, the Bradts wanted to donate their reading girl to Thomas Academy. “We hope she will inspire the kids to read more,” Gary added.
Come see our new Thomas Academy reading girl at pick-up time or in the mornings.
